BACP Accredited Member
Hi, I’m Alison and I have extensive successful experience in counselling adults, children and young people facing many different problems including depression, eating disorders, anxiety, bereavement and stress related illness.
I am trained in the integrative counselling approach which means I have knowledge and experience in many different counselling methodologies including CBT, Mindulness, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic and Person Centred therapy. This flexible approach means that the therapy can be tailored to suit your needs and your current situation.
In addition to my private practice I work within schools, counselling children of all ages.
When working with children I use play and art therapy techniques to enable better communication between myself and the child. This is particularly beneficial for those between the ages of 5 and 12 but can also be surprisingly useful in enabling therapeutic communication for young people and adults.
As an accredited member of the BACP I abide by their ethical framework for good practice and continue to keep up to date with current practice.
If you are a little hesitant about making that first appointment I offer a half hour session for us to meet and for you to decide whether I am the right therapist for you before committing to further sessions.
